The Harlesden Islamic Cultural Centre was incorporated to empower and benefit the Muslims of the Borough of Brent with the aims of promoting education; relieving poverty, sickness, hardship or distress; and the provision of recreational facilities with a social welfare purpose.
Our Vision is of Brent as a place where every Muslim has pride in their community and is inspired and supported in realizing their potential to serve for the greater good of all, in line with the Islamic ethos.
Our Mission is to empower, inspire and support our community by:
Creating opportunities to support and develop all communities in Brent
Providing individual support and developing access to learning programmes in all communities in Brent, through use of our facilities, grant funding and in partnership with other organizations.
Establishing learning centres that promote the highest quality, well-rounded education, through excellence in our own centres; promoting wider excellence in education through grant funding; supporting Muslims (of all ages and gender) in all fields of beneficial knowledge; and maximising access to our Centres for the economically disadvantaged.
Encouraging Social Participation of all Groups and Individuals
Providing support via our support network of personnel and space, grant funds to organizations and individuals where needed, involving people in local initiatives and reducing barriers caused by disadvantage.
Increasing our Community’s Access to Recreation in line with the Islamic Ethos
Working in partnership with all stakeholders and through beneficiaries’ feedbacks and needs analyses to raise awareness about existing facilities, rent or provide same for beneficial indoor and outdoor leisure, recreation, sports and fitness programmes aimed at effectively utilizing spare time and improving the quality of life of our community, and to increase awareness of the links between exercise and health.
